Welcome to the hardware and software section of GuarinoLand. This section was mainly for Harrison High School students to learn about the components used to build a computer (PC). Hardware and Software was a semester course. During the first cycle, students would learn how computer components are made and what functions they would perform. Class usually began with an open discussion, viewing of videos and pictures and often handling and passing around some actual components. Notes would be reviewed and then students would complete an online interactive crossword puzzle as a class work assignment. This would be followed by a kahoot or jeopardy like review and then finally an online test. During the second cycle, students would create a Powerpoint slideshow presentation that would illustrate all the components one would purchase to build a computer. While students worked on their presentations, two students each class worked as a team building a computer with actual computer components from empty case to fully functional machine. Below are the assignments from the last time the course was taught at HHS, the 2017-2018 school year.
